Abstract

The study aims to explore global environmental citizenship as a universal value that can contribute to promoting culture of volunteerism and supporting sustainable development pathways within Libyan society particularly in light of contemporary environmental challenges such as climate change, desertification, and resource degradation. These issues transcend national borders, making global environmental citizenship an appropriate framework for guiding individual and collective behaviors to ward practical and sustainable solutions.

The research focuses on the role of Libyan charitable organizations as key civil actor  in promoting environmental awareness and mobilizing volu7nteer efforts to serve the local community, while linking these efforts to the universal values of environmental citizenship .To achieve its objectives, the study adopted an analytical methodology and selected a sample of charitable associations in Libya to measure the extent to which their members understand the concepts of global environmental citizenship and to examine the extent to which this is reflected in their volunteer efforts and development initiatives .
