This study aimed to identify the reality of marriage rates in Libyan families and the social and economic factors affecting them.
The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, deemed most suitable for its objectives. The study population consisted of families residing in Misrata, and the study was conducted on a sample of 108 families from various areas of the city of Misrata, The sample was selected during the Fall 2025-2026 academic year, using a non-random, purposive sampling method.
The families were selected using a purposive sampling method. The study was prepared using a questionnaire consisting of (36) items, and the validity and reliability of the instrument were confirmed. In order to process the data, the SPSS program was used. This study reached several conclusions, which are listed below:
1- Marriage rates in Libyan families tend to be high, as indicated by the following statement: (Marriage rates differ between cities and villages), with a mean of 2.53, indicating a high level.
2- Several social factors influence marriage rates, as indicated by the following statement: (Social comparisons between family's increase pressure on young people), with a mean of 2.77, indicating a high level.
3- Economic factors affect marriage rates, as indicated by the following statement: (Low monthly income negatively impacts the decision to marry), with a mean of 2.85, indicating a high level.
4- There are no statistically significant differences between the respondents' answers on the study's scales according to all background variables across all dimensions.
