Abstract

This study examines suicide in Libya as a multidimensional phenomenon shaped by psychological, social, economic, legal, and religious factors. The research provides a comprehensive analytical framework that highlights the structural and psychological vulnerabilities contributing to suicidal behavior. It reveals significant gaps in mental health services, inadequate legal frameworks focused on criminalization rather than prevention, and weak institutional coordination. The findings emphasize that suicide in Libya is not an individual act but a reflection of broader societal distress. The study recommends the development of a national suicide prevention strategy that integrates mental health services, social support systems, legal reforms, school-based programs, and responsible religious and media engagement. Such an integrated approach is essential for reducing suicide rates and strengthening community resilience.
