The Psychological, Social, and Health Impacts of Early Marriage
The study aimed to identify the impact of early marriage on secondary school female students, and to explore the role of the social worker in community awareness to reduce this phenomenon in the city of Zliten. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach, where data were collected using a questionnaire applied to a purposive sample of (80) female students from four secondary schools in Zliten. The results showed that there are high-level social, psychological, and health effects resulting from early marriage, most notably the reinforcement of customs and traditions for this phenomenon, and the psychological stress resulting from new responsibilities. The results also revealed that cultural and social reasons (such as customs and traditions) rank first in driving families towards early marriage. The study confirmed the effectiveness of proposals based on community awareness carried out by the social worker in reducing this phenomenon. The study recommended intensifying comprehensive awareness programs in cooperation with various institutions, and training social workers to deal with such issues (early marriage).
